The World Health Organization has declared COVID-19 to be a pandemic, and we in New York City are not unaffected. For the comfort and safety of our clients and staff, we at CityTouch are taking additional precautions over and above our normal safety protocols.
As New York State licensed massage therapists in a nationally registered medical massage facility, CityTouch adheres to standard medical massage protocols for sanitizing and disinfecting our workspace and equipment. For example, hot stones are heated to disinfecting temperatures of 135-150F prior to use and are meticulously cleaned after each session, linens are carefully washed on-site with 140F hot water steam and detergent.
Long before these current concerns, CityTouch has been following additional practice-specific cleaning protocols to ensure the health and comfort of our clients and staff. Our licensed massage therapists are required to thoroughly wash their hands, forearms, and elbows with soap and hot water before and after each client session – and during all sessions when working on clients’ feet. Our stock of cleaning supplies is carefully monitored and replenished each month, and our air conditioning units are cleaned thoroughly each spring.
To allay current health concerns, CityTouch is adopting additional, common-sense protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
For the next four weeks, all CityTouch employees and contractors will have their temperature taken before the start of their shifts and before they are allowed to work with our clients. Anyone with a temperature above 100F will be sent home and prevented from interacting with clients or coworkers.
No-touch hand sanitizer dispensers will be mounted in each treatment room for both the staff and clients. CityTouch treatment rooms are already supplied with hand sanitizer, eco-friendly cleaning solution, and rubbing alcohol. Hand sanitizer is also available in our lounge area.
We are temporarily adjusting our cancelation and reschedule policy from 24-hours to 12-hours. Clients are encouraged to contact us immediately if they show any fever or related symptoms. All client information is kept confidential and will not be released. No-shows will continue to be charged in full for missed appointments. We will reevaluate this policy change in four weeks.
We encourage our clients to contact us with any questions, and we respectfully request a prompt response to our communications if they have an appointment scheduled.
This approach will help to provide a safe and comfortable working environment for giving and receiving massage therapy during this stressful time. I hope we can help you feel better soon.
Be well.
Rob and everyone at CityTouch Licensed Massage Therapy
